Next week, I’ll be flying to California, USA, to attend in one of the biggest comic (entertainment) conventions in the world. The San Diego Comic-Con.

Im happy on getting back, my last time was in 2007 (ok, its just 3 years but feels like 10). And this year is even more special, first, because Mondo Urbano, The first volume of the creator owned project I run with Mateus Santolouco and Eduardo Medeiros is finally coming out by Oni Press (check out the guitar picks they did to promote the book on the top);
second, because American Vampire, the amazing project im doing with Scott Snyder and Stephen King(!) is already arround, and selling out! We will be signing everyday in Vertigo’s booth and talking about it in a couple of panels;
and last, but not least, for the first time in my SDCC history, Ill share a booth, with the amazing artists Gabriel Bá, Fabio Moon, Cliff Chiang and Jill Thompson. NICE! You can find us on the booth #1320 and I’ll be selling limited prints, American Vampire (and other) original art, books and of course, arround if you just want to pass by and say hi.

Next wednesday (June 9th), Oni Press will finally release Mondo Urbano, Vol 1 - Owned creator book i did with my fellas Mateus Santolouco and Eduardo Medeiros.
We are super proud of it. It was originally a 4-issue mini series self published in Brazil from 2008 to 2009. The issues are sold out. Hopefully, the US trade will too.

Hey everybody.

I have been working as amad man lately and had absolutely no time to update my blog or anything else.

For the ones who messaged me, sorry taking too long to reply back. Im reading them all and really appreciated all the support but ill just awnser it all when the vampires give me a break.

Regarding vampires, BTW, last wednesday American Vampire #3 came out in great shape! Check out some reviews!

Nos dias 15 e 16 de maio, estarei no Uruguai, participando do evento Montevidéo Comics.
Acabei conhecendo o evento através do meu amigo Ariel Olivetti, e acabei entrando na programação do evento de última hora.

No dia 16, domingo, participarei de um bate-papo com a artista portuguesa María João Worm e apresentado por Alejandro Castro.

This cover was done really long time ago and I’m happy to see it finally released.

Months ago, Filip, a Top Cow editor invited me to do a piece for Witchblade or Darkness. I could pick my favorite.

On the 90ties, Marc Silvestri was one of my main influences and was, with Jim Lee, my favorite Image artist.

I’ve follow The Darkness on the begining too, when Garth Ennis was writing and that blew my mind, so yeah. I HAD to do a Darkness cover.

For this one, I did pencils, inks, washes and digital colors all by myself and really liked the horror 80ties movie poster look it have. Reminds me those Evil Dead or Gremllins.

Anyways, hope you enjoy it!

Fiz esta capa a algum tempo atrás e fico feliz de ver ela finalmente divulgada.

Meses atrás, Filip, om dos editores da Top Cow, me convidou para fazer uma capa para Witchblade ou Darkness, provavelmente os personagens mais populares da editora, e disse que eu poderia escolher o que eu mais gostasse.

Nos anos 90, Marc Silvestri foi uma das minhas principais influencias, e, junto com Jim Lee (óbvio), meu artista favorito.

Eu cheguei a acompanhar a revista do Darkness no início, quando  oGarth Ennis escrevia e realmente achei aquilo tudo (na época) muito foda. Levando tudo isso em conta, percebi que TINHA que fazer uma capa do Darkness.

Fiz desenho, arte final, aguada, e cores digitais e realmente curti o visu “poster de filme de terror dos anos 80″que esta capa ficou.

Este é o primeiro design que eu fiz pra história da Monica que o Edu, Mateus e eu estamos fazendo para a nova antologia MSP+50.  Talvez fique bem diferente na versão final, mas enfim, estava ansioso pra postar. A historia vai ser bem legal e estou louco pra começar a desenhar.

É legal poder brincar com esses personagens clássicos, que eram minhas leituras favoritas na infância (e, sim, parte da adolescencia).

There was a while i didnt draw Superman, so when the editors Matt Idelson and Will Moss asked me to draw a variant cover for Adventure Comics, i thought that would be fun. It was indeed. My American Vampire partner Dave McCaig has colored this one and the book should be out this week (i guess).

Já fazia algum tempo que eu não desenhava o Superman, então quando os editores Matt Idelson e Will Moss me ofereceram uma capa variante da revista Adventure Comics #9, achei que poderia ser divertido. E foi mesmo. Meu colega de American Vampire, Dave McCaig foi o responsável pelas belas cores desta capa, e a revista, deve sair esta semana (eu acho).
